Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13-1/2 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. Its purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. The Venturing program is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities.
Our Venture crew is a part of the Greater St. Louis Area Council and in the Boone Trails District. Midwest Scuba is the sponsor of Crew 2905 – a high adventure crew specializing in scuba diving. Members of the crew have participated in several exciting and rewarding dive events such as week long dive trips to the Florida Keys, reef diving in San Carlos, Mexico and wreck diving in Lake Erie! As a crew, we also participate in the district and council Venturing activities. Some of these include repelling, rock climbing, challenge course, shot gun shooting, horseback riding, the annual Fall Fun Rally, and ski nights at Hidden Valley. We look forward to welcoming other interested young men and women to the crew.
Crew 2905 currently meets at 6:30 PM on the first Monday of each month at Midwest Scuba, located at the corner of 5th and Clark Streets in St. Charles. Annual membership dues are nominal and include the cost of the crew t-shirt. We have over 30 registered youth in our crew consisting of both boys and girls ranging in ages between 14 and 20. Many of our youth attend schools in the St. Charles, Francis Howell, Ft. Zumwalt, Wentzville and St. Louis County school districts. Our older youth members are pursuing higher education in and out of the area as well as military enlistments.
If you would like more details or are interested in joining the crew, please contact one of our Adult Leaders! We look forward to hearing from you!
